COMMUNITY POLICING FORUM - AGM
2009-06-23

1. PRESENT As per attendance list.

2. APOLOGIES: Nil

3. WELCOME: Mr Kevin Harvey welcomed all present and thanked Ari of Bankok Wok for providing snacks for the meeting. Mr Harvey then invited all present to help themselves to a plate of food and cool drink.

4. CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: Proposed by Mr Malcolm Hawkey, seconded by Mr Andy Tribe


5. MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES: Nil.

6. BUST OF THE MONTH: Csts Morris, Johnson, Thobakgale and Khathi were recognised for the arrest of three wanted robbers.

7. GUEST SPEAKER: Nil

8. AWARD: Insp D.P. Bramley and Cst S.D. Clark awarded Supt D.M.Singh with a certificate and gift vouchers in recognition for his tireless work and dedication to the community.

9. CRIME REPORT. Supt Singh explained how certain crimes such as housebreaking had become problematic. He listed several suspicious vehicles that were operating in Westville that were linked to various crimes.

10. SDIP. Mr Rusty Damp reports that his enquiries resulted in favourable responses form the community.

11. REPORTS BY SECURITY COMPANIES. Nil.

12. GENERAL. There were several community members attending for the first time. Remarked how they heard about the meeting. One man commented that with the near 20 000 vehicles that reside, work or pass through Westville daily, the vehicle theft total was very low.

13. FINANCIAL REPORT: Mr Naidoo gave the annual financial report. There were no questions.

14. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: Mr Harvey reported to the community of the projects that were conducted over the past year and are ongoing.

15. NEW OFFICE BEARERS: Mr Julian Carter proposed the status quo of office bearers of the CPF remain. He was seconded by Mrs Ramana Mahan. The Motion was carried with no objections
