Minutes of the Westville Community Policing Forum held on 20th October 2009

3. WELCOME:
 Mr Kevin Harvey welcomed all present, especially Supt Lionet of Metro Police and the SAPS students. Mr Harvey wished all Muslim Community members a happy Eid Mubarak.

4. CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES:
 Proposed by Mr Roger Day and seconded by Mr Malcolm Hawkey

5. MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES:
 Nil.

6. GUEST SPEAKER
Claire Wager and Martin Taylor from Robo Guard Upper Highway gave a demonstration on how the wireless External Perimeter Security System operates. 7. CRIME REPORT:
 
A Crime Report pertaining to Burglaries Residential, Robbery Aggravating and Theft of Motor Vehicle for the month September 2009 was discussed by Supt Singh. Supt Singh appealed to members of the Community not to make themselves easy targets by being negligent. Supt. Singh speaks on the arrest in Tullibardine Road. Supt. Singh indicates that the festive Season is coming up urges the Community to be cautious whilst at Shopping Centres and to upgrade their Security Measures where possible.

Supt. Lionnet from Metro urges Community members to make note Registration Numbers of Suspicious Motor Vehicles and to forward them to the relevant authorities.

8. SDIP / PATROL SCHEME
Mr Roger Day indicates that there is still a problem being experienced with regards to Fingerprints attending Crime Scenes.

9. REPORTS BY SECURITY COMPANIES:
 
Paul Romeril from Blue Security introduced himself and his Operational Manager Mr Fourie. Mr Romeril indicates that he will be attending the Monthly CPF Meetings on a regular basis and that one additional vehicle is being placed within the Westville Area. A Tactical Crime Unit will also be Monitoring certain areas where Crime is escalating.

10. GENERAL
Mr Simon Luke from Duncan Drive presented Photographs and a talk on a Cable Theft incident which took place within the Westville North Area on Thursday 13th August 2009.

Mr Julian Carter from Enforce informs the Community of a Scam where two African Males driving two separate vehicles are posing as conducting assessments on Houses.
