7. CRIME REPORT
Superintendent Singh indicated that a meeting was held in respect of the CCTV cameras, the CPF Exec. was unfortunately not present at the meeting. A tour of the Westville area was conducted and approximately seven suitable spots were identified. A budget of Twelve Billion Rand has been set aside for the installation of CCTV Cameras within the Durban Area. Superintendent Singh informed the Community of the House Robbery which occurred in Killin Road, Westville North on the 15th September 2008 and urged the Community to Educate their Domestic Workers. A pamphlet is currently being drafted in respect of Educating Domestic Workers as well as the Community about Person on Person Robberies and House Robberies. A draft copy of the pamphlet will be forwarded to the CPF Exec. for perusal and will then be published in the Westville Watch in two languages (English and Zulu). Superintendent Singh thanked the dedicated members of Community who are always present at the monthly Community Police Forum and urges the Community to spread he word and to try and get more members of the Community on board to fight against crime. A Crime Report pertaining to Robbery Aggravating, Burglary Residential and Theft of Motor Vehicle for the months August 2007 compared to August 2008 as well as July 2008 compared to August 2008 was presented.

Superintendent Singh indicated that so far for the month of September 2008 there have been no Carjacking incidents reported. A new initiative has been implemented by the SPAR group whereby an SMS system has been introduced reporting on incidents of Crime to the SAPS. Awareness has been created in respect of the opening of the new Westwood Shopping Mall which will open on Thursday the 25th September 2008 as well as the schools which will be breaking up on Friday the 26th September 2008. Challenges being faced with the opening of the Westwood Shopping Mall is the Traffic Congestion, Smash and Grabs and Carjackings. There is a further challenge being faced pertaining to possible Taxi Violence erupting between the Claremont / Kwadabeka and Chesterville Taxi Associations as the Department of Transport has not yet made a decision on who the Legal Road Users for the route will be. Mr. Kevin Harvey thanks Superintendent Singh and Personnel of Westville SAPS for their dedication in reducing Crime within the Westville Area.

8. SERVICE EVALUATION
Mr. Kevin Harvey reports that seven out of the ten complainants were contacted by Mr Rusty Damp. The complainants were reasonably satisfied and fairly complimentary with the Service delivery of the Westville SAPS. There is still however a problem being experience with the Fingerprint Department not attending timeously. Mr. Rusty Damp did further indicate that there has been a considerable improvement in the Back up Register.

9. REPORT BY SECURITY COMPANY
Mr. Julian Carter from Enforce Security indicates that the Crime Statistics received from the SAPS are not always a true reflection as it has been established from Security Companies that approximately 50% of incidents reported to Security Companies are not being reported to the SAPS. Community members are urged to report all incidents to the SAPS.

10. GENERAL
Superintendent Singh thanks Mr. Andy Tribe for his dedication pertaining to the Westbeat Website. Mr. Julian Carter offers his assistance in placing articles in the Westville Watch. Superintendent Singh explains the Re-Structuring Process of the SAPS.
