COMMUNITY POLICING FORUM

1. PRESENT AS PER ATTENDANCE LIST
2. APOLOGIES:

3. CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES:
Proposed by Mr Malcolm Hawkey and seconded by Mrs Shannon Dorfling
4. MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES
The Office Bearers will be finalised in the next CPF Exec. Meeting. Mr Julian Carter requests that an updated list of the entire Committee be presented at the next CPF meeting which will be held on the 19th August 2008.
5. BUST OF THE MONTH
The bust of the month went to the following Detective members :- D/Inspector S.P. Dlamini for ensuring a good conviction in a Murder case whereby two (2) accused received a life sentence.. D/Inspector S. Lessing and D/Inspector A. Meyer for a quick arrest pertaining to a House Robbery which occurred in Blair Atholl Road where five (5) suspects were arrested.
6. GUEST SPEAKER
Mr Lenny Abrahams from the CPF Exec. Gave feedback on a meeting which was called by the Provincial Commissioner on Sunday the 13th July 2008, which was attended by the Various CPF Exec. members together with the relevant Station Commissioners. The meeting was called to discuss the Crime Stats which were released on the 30th June 2008. Mr Abrahams further urged the SAPS and Community to work together to curb the increase in crime and to engage with Domestic Workers and Gardeners in respect of House Robberies. Mr Van Der Meulen urges the Community to no longer merely be spectators, but to become more actively involved
7. CRIME REPORT
Supt. Singh urges the Community to spread the word and to get more Community members involved in attending the monthly Community Police Forum Meetings. Supt. Singh illustrates that there has been a decrease in Housebreakings, and Theft of Motor vehicles. House Robberies and
Carjackings are however on the increase. Supt. Singh further illustrates the quarterly report for April, May and June 2007/2008.
8. SDIP / PATROL SCHEME
Mr Rusty Damp indicates that the general response from the Community has been good. Fingerprints are however still posing to be problematic. Mr Damp urges the Community to report any problems being experienced pertaining to fingerprints, directly to Supt. Singh.
9. REPORT BY SECURITY COMPANY
Nil
10. GENERAL
Mr Julian Carter raised the issue of ATM Bombings which occurred in Hammarsdale and further urged that Garages in Church Road and Blair Atholl Road should be visited.
