DOWNLOADS
From time to time certain documents may be listed on this page for downloading. These files could be in one of several formats of which the most common are:
 .doc - Microsoft Word format 
 .pdf - public domain format that is normally opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
 .xls - Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
 .ppp - Microsoft Power Point Presentation format
 .txt - Notepad or Microsoft Word ( Notepad is supplied with every Microsoft operating system)

HOW TO DOWNLOAD
Most common browsers enable downloading by simply clicking on the file(s) listed for downloading.  There is however a Freeware program with lots of useful features.  FDM (Freeware Download Manager). This software is as its name suggests totally free. It can be interrupted and re-started from where it left off.  It also analyses your PC to enable downloadable files to be downloaded in several parallel chunks. You choose where you would like files to be stored.

Not everyone has an Office Suite such as Microsoft and therefore will find it a bit expensive to justify such a package to enable one to open documents offered on this site for download.  There is a very good alternative and that is "Open Office". Open Office.org is an extremely powerful package that is totally free to home users and businesses.  It is capable of opening the Microsoft files to read or display as the case may be and one can edit these files or write new ones from scratch and save them as if they were prepared using Microsoft.  These are part of the Open Source Movement whereby thousands of programmers contribute to developing free software on a voluntary basis.

We will make some of these programs available for downloading to help those who need them to read files provided below.  We will consider making them available on CD at a nominal fee to avoid downloading large files onto slow PCs. This would be for local end users attending CPF meetings.

2. OPEN OFFICE                                     - To read about and/or download click here - This is an open source totally free suite that can read, open and write files that are fully compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint as well as Wordperfect, Lotus and more
3. ADOBE ACROBAT READER                 - To read about and/or download click here - Reads .pdf (public domain format files)
4. IRFAN VIEW                                         - To read about and/or download click here - Picture viewer that enables editing of images.

All the above are useful if you have difficulty either downloading or opening your incoming email attachments

The above will be downloaded as executable installation files that you simply double click and follow the instructions to install them.  Once installed they are there to be used to download and open any files listed below.
